BEST ANDROID ANTIVIRUS for checking and removing malwares

Android is fast becoming the commonest mobile operating system and in vew of this phone owners which uses android operating system must find a way to secure their mobiles from trojans and some other virus.
while surfing the net i came up with the following antivirus suitable for android devices

Android phones use a completely different operating system. This means that, essentially, a virus designed for a Windows operating system wouldn't know how to harm an Android phone, even if it was deep in the CPU.
In view of this listed below are the best antivirus for android devices
*Kaspersky

Kaspersky Mobile Security Lite is the free version of Kaspersky’s full Mobile Security app with the main differences being the addition, in the full version, of a SIM watch option in the anti-theft protection, call & SMS filtering plus privacy features (which can hide designated contacts, and controls what others can see and access on your phone).

after installation you need to define a security code which is used by features like the anti-theft protector to activate different commands. There is no option to perform a scan on your existing apps or data  but the real time scanning of newly installed apps is enabled by default.

The Lite version is most limited and in many ways just serves as an demo for the full version. During  av-test.org tests Kaspersky ranked 4th and the Lite version will do the same job in terms of detecting malware but with limited security functionality.
*AVAST

avast! Mobile Security is a free app that includes a not only an anti-virus component but also a wide range of security tools including  a  privacy scanner, an app manager and a web shield that scans each URL and warns you if it’s a known malware-infected web site. It also includes a USSD blocker which stops any dangerous USSD commands like those discovered for Samsung smartphones in the later part of last year. For rooted devices it also has a firewall.

There is also a large number of anti-theft options including the ability to control your phone via SMS and perform actions like a history wipe, phone lock, and siren activation.

When you first run avast! it will automatically scan your device for any malware that has crept in unawares and then it switches to real-time protection mode. According to the Android antivirus tests carried out by av-test.org, avast is “easy to use and  has many features to protect your device. With its very good detection rate it is one of the best  security products for your Android device.”
*AVG
Like many of the apps in this list AVG AntiVirus comes originally from the world of Windows and the humble PC. For Android it comes in two version the free app and the premium PRO version. AVG has come a long way since we checked it in 2012. It was a good product then and it is even better now. The UI has been updated and is much easier to use than previously. After installation you need to manually kickoff the first scan. Until you do the app will show some red warning indicators.

During the first scan AVG noticed that the phone was set to allow the installation of apps from external (unknown) sources. This is set on my device as I have the Amazon appstore installed. AVG is right, this does present a level of risk but the risk factor is low. Ticking “ignore this threat” will make the warning disappear.

Like many of the other anti-virus apps, AVG is more than just an anti-virus scanner. It includes a task killer, a battery optimizer, real time protection from unsafe websites and an anti-theft / phone location service(an addded bonus).

The free version comes most likely comes with a 14 days of access to the PRO features which include an App Locker, which blocks the launching of an app unless the password is entered, and the ability to backup your apps to the phone’s SD card.

*The test was made on 23 April-10 May 2007, using Windows XP Professional SP2 on a P4 3000 Mhz, 1024MB DDRAM.

* All programs tested had the latest versions, upgrades and updates and they were tested using their full scanning capabilities e.g. heuristics, full scan etc.

*The default settings of each program were not used, in order for each program to achieve its maximum detection rate. Because of this, there is a possibility for the tested programs to detect a few false positives.

*All programs were updated on 22 April 2007, between 10.00AM and 13.00PM GMT.

*The 174770 virus samples were chosen using VS2000 according to Kaspersky, F-Prot, Nod32, Dr.Web, BitDefender and McAfee antivirus programs. Each virus sample was unique by virus name, meaning that AT LEAST 1 antivirus program detected it as a new virus.

window users can also check out microsoft secuirity essentials.its awesome and reliable and free too all you need to do is make it up to date.

*ALL virus samples were unpacked and the only samples that were kept were the ones that were packed using external-dos-packers (that means not winzip, winrar, winace etc).

difference between the iphone and the ipad

Two big addition of the Apple product line are the iPad and the iPhone 4. What a lot of people noticed during the unveiling of the iPhone 4 is that it is actually powered by the very same A4 processor. Although they have similarities, they have differences that make them appropriate for certain uses. The biggest difference between them is their size (pun intended). The iPad is almost 7 times bigger than the iPhone but is slightly thinner. The bigger device allows Apple to put better specs into the iPad.

For one, the iPad has a 9.7 inch display while the iPhone has a 3.5 inch display but with only a slightly higher resolution. Despite that, the bigger screen of the iPad makes it much better when watching video or browsing the Internet. You can still do the same with the iPhone but you need to make do with the smaller screen and very frequent zooms when online. The iPad is also equipped with a bigger battery, to provide the same amount of video viewing or browsing time. The iPad has bigger power requirements and installing a battery with identical specs to that of the iPhone would mean lesser available power.

Although the iPad has some advantages over the iPhone, there are also roles that only the iPhone can play. The iPad is not able to make calls or send text messages like the iPhone; after all who would want to hold the iPad to their face to make or receive a call. The iPad was also not equipped with a video camera, so you cannot record videos or even take pictures with it. The iPhone 4 actually has 2 cameras, one on the rear for pictures and video and one in front for video calling.

The iPad only has a few of the sensors you would find on the latest iPhone. The most important sensor right now is the gyroscope which allows for better motion sensing than the accelerometer. It should open up new possibilities for game controls and other stuff. Sadly, the current iPad cannot run those apps since it lacks the gyroscope of the iPhone.

In conclusion
The iPad is much bigger than the iPhone
The iPad has a bigger battery than the iPhone
You can make calls on the iPhone but not on the iPad
The iPhone has a camera but not the iPad
The iPhone has more sensors than the iPad

Apple to unveil new iPhone September 10?

Apple to unveil new iPhone September 10?

Come September 10, the current iPhone rumor season will end and a new one will begin. That's because that's the day
Apple will unveil the next incarnation of its iconic device --
that is, if All Things D's unnamed sources have it right.

As expected, the iPhone 5S appears nearly identical to the iPhone 5 save
several small distinctions. The first is the previously rumored dual-LED flash on the back of the iPhone 5S.
Where every iPhone that's had a back-facing flash thus far has used a single bulb, this next-generation
device is aiming to up the ante with a double-dose of bright light.

Remind yourself as we’re running these comparisons down that these devices
are quite likely case-maker dummy models, this meaning the final product could very
well end up significantly different up-close and personal.
Colors are likely quite close, and the locations of buttons are more
that likely in their right positions, but detailing will be more precise.

Up front you’ll find a long line atop the iPhone 5S’ display in place of a
short line and dot, this suggesting Apple is pushing for a slightly simpler (ever so slightly, that is) design
with a single hole rather than two for the earphone speaker and single sensor. The front-facing camera on the iPhone 5S appears to be
positioned slightly higher than before and works with a smaller opening than the iPhone 5.
The same is true of the back-facing camera, both lens ports being slightly smaller than their predecessors’. It’s not clear at the moment
why such a change would be in order, save for a different camera set up front and behind. The bottoms of both devices appear to be exceedingly
similar – so similar that we’d estimate any differentiation would be due to the maker of the dummy’s slightly inaccurate machining.

Meanwhile the so-called iPhone 5C looks and feels (to the photographer) to be essentially the same size as the iPhone 5 (and 5S), save
its rounded sides and plastic delivery – not unlike that of the
iPhone 3GS, an piece of hardware all but lost to time (yes, the iPhone has already been plastic).

A modem simply stands for  (modulator-demodulator)and it is a device that modulates an analog carrier signal to encode digital information, and also demodulates such a carrier signal to decode the transmitted information it lets you connect your computer to a standard telephone line so you can transmit and receive electronically transmitted data. Modems are generally classified by the amount of data they can send in a given unit of time, usually expressed in bits per second (bit/s, or bps), or bytes per second (B/s). Modems can alternatively be classified by their symbol rate, measured in baud

Basically there are 3 major types of modem which are
External modem, Internal modem. PC Card modem.
Now let us address them one after the other
1        external modem    This is the simplest type of modem to install because you don't have to open the computer. External modems have their own power supply and connect with a cable to a computer's serial port. The telephone line plugs into a socket on the rear panel of the modem.
Because external modems have their own power supply, you can turn off the modem to break an online connection quickly without powering down the computer. Another advantage over an internal modem is that an external modem's separate power supply does not drain any power from the computer. You also can monitor your modem's connection activity by watching the status lights.
2          internal modem             Most internal modems come installed in the computer you buy. Internal modems are more directly integrated into the computer system and, therefore, do not need any special attention. Internal modems are activated when you run a communications program and are turned off when you exit the program. This convenience is especially useful for novice users.
Internal modems usually cost less than external modems, but the price difference is usually small. The major disadvantage with internal modems is their location: inside the computer. When you want to replace an internal modem you have to go inside the computer case to make the switch.
3              PC Card modem.
These modems, designed for portable computers, are the size of a credit card and fit into the PC Card slot on notebook and handheld computers. These modems are removed when the modem is not needed. Except for their size, PC Card modems are like a combination of external and internal modems. These devices are plugged directly into an external slot in the portable computer, so no cable is required other than the telephone line connection. The cards are powered by the computer, which is fine unless the computer is battery-operated. Running a PC Card modem while the portable computer is operating on battery power drastically decreases the life of your batteries.

Having known these how do modem works
When a modem first makes a connection, you will hear screeching sounds coming from the modem. These are digital signals coming from the computer to which you are connecting being modulated into audible sounds. The modem sends a higher-pitched tone to represent the digit I and a lower-pitched tone to represent the digit 0.
At the other end of your modem connection, the computer attached to its modem reverses this process. The receiving modem demodulates the various tones into digital signals and sends them to the receiving computer. Actually, the process is a bit more complicated than sending and receiving signals in one direction and then another. Modems simultaneously send and receive signals in small chunks. The modems can tell incoming from outgoing data signals by the type of standard tones they use.
Modems convert analog data transmitted over phone lines into digital data computers can read; they also convert digital data into analog data so it can be transmitted. This process involves modulating and demodulating the computer’s digital signals into analog signals that travel over the telephone lines. In other words, the modem translates computer data into the language used by telephones and then reverses the process to translate the responding data back into computer language.

How can i check my computer internet speed

The speed in which a computer connects to the Internet can vary because of many factors, so the speed that the ISP posts gives an average or a range that a user can expect when connecting. Many sites offer free speed testing. One of the easiest to use is Speakeasy because there is no software to download or install.

steps involved

1     Click on the Internet Explorer icon or any other browser you have on the computer's desktop or the taskbar.
2     Enter the URL "www.speakeasy.net/speedtest" in the Internet browser address box.

3     Choose a server from the list that is provided to start the testing process.
4     Read the results that will be provided when the test is complete at the bottom of the graph near the bottom of the page.
5     Consider running the test a couple of times to get a better reading of the average speed of the computer's Internet connection.

Tips & Warnings

·         The test can be run at various times of the day to see when the speed might be faster or slower. This can aid in deciding when to download or upload a large file or files.
·         Beware of sites that offer to download and install software on the computer before the test is run. Most likely, these are spyware or virus sites, because this test can be completed without installing any software on the client computer.
earlier on i told you that some factors are responsible for your computer network speed.
some of these factors are
1  Bandwidth and
2 Latency
check out these article to find out about what is bandwidth

WHAT IS BANDWIDTH

Bandwidth in computer networking refers to the data rate supported by a network connection or interface. Network bandwidth is not the only factor that contributes to the perceived speed of a network But we are only concerned with letting you know the basic expaination of what a bandwidth means.

Now what does a Network Bandwidth means?

Bandwidth is the primary measure of computer network speed. Virtually everyone knows the bandwidth rating of their modem or their Internet service that is prominently advertised on network products sold today.
In networking, bandwidth represents the overall capacity of the connection. The greater the capacity, the more likely that better performance will result. Bandwidth is the amount of data that passes through a network connection over time as measured in bits per second (bps).
Bandwidth can refer to both actual and theoretical throughput, and it is important to distinguish between the two. For example, a standard dial-upmodem supports 56 Kbps of peak bandwidth, but due to physical limitations of telephone lines and other factors, a dial-up connection cannot support more than 53 Kbps of bandwidth (about 10% less than maximum) in practice. Likewise traditionalEthernet networks that theoretically support 100 Mbps or 1000 Mbps of maximum bandwidth, but this maximum amount cannot reasonably be achieved due to overhead in the computer hardware and operating systems.

Broadband and Other High Bandwidth Connections

The term high bandwidth is sometimes used to distinguish faster broadband Internet connections from traditional dial-up or cellular network speeds. Definitions vary, but high bandwidth connections generally support data rates of minimum 64 Kbps (and usually 300 Kbps or higher). Broadband is just one type of high bandwidth network communication method.

Measuring Network Bandwidth

Numerous tools exist for administrators to measure the bandwidth of network connections. On LANs (local area networks),someof these tools include netperf and ttcp. On the Internet, numerous bandwidth and speed test programs exist, most available for free online use.
Even with these tools at your disposal, bandwidth utilization is difficult to measure precisely as it varies over time depending on the configuration of hardware and characteristics of software applications including how they are being used

There is another factor that is responsible for the computer internet speed that factor is called Latency.Although it is less important but you can on the name to know more about it.

Connecting compuer to wireless internet

Giving your computer a wireless internet connection is a very easy task to accomplish all you need to ask yourself
*Does your computer have a wireless adapter installed?
If your answer is yes then you are good to go but if your answer is no then you need to check my article on HOW TO GET AN INTERNET WIRELESS ADAPTER.
If you already have the adapter installed take the following steps
1     Find out if wireless Internet reception exists where your computer is located. If you're located very close to a W-iFi hotspot, like a coffee shop, you may be able to use this network to get wireless Internet for desktop PCs. Also, some apartment complexes and college dorms have free wireless Internet. Your neighbors may have wireless Internet too, which you can ask them if you can use.
2     Buy  a wireless network adapter for your desktop if you dont have one already. You can obtain an adapter from most electronic stores. Be sure to get a wireless adapter with the proper strength, which depends on how far you are from the wireless hotspot.
The easiest adapters to install are those that just plug into an available USB port.
